hardshell jacket

A type of outer garment that protects the wearer from outside elements. These thin-layered jackets are often part of a layering system that allows the wearer to moderate body temperature and comfort by adding/removing layers. Hardshell jackets offer more protection from wind and rain than their softshell counterparts. They’re also more resistant to wear and tear. They are stiffer and heavier than softshells.
